I feel sorry for the genuine operators in the network marketing (also known as Multi - Level Marketing)
field. As in any field there are 'quick buck merchants' or scam artists
who will take advantage of desperate people.
The rule of thumb is; if they don't have a product/business side to their program, they aren't real Network Marketers. Pyramid and 'Ponsi' Schemes tempt you with making money off others, but unlike MLM they don't offer anything else. If you are contacted by someone (via phone or email) cut through their spiel by asking a few 'hard' questions. Questions such as; - What's the business side? - Are you promoting health food, cosmetics, time share, free shopping vouchers, share market programs, etc? - What's the name of the product range? - What's the web address of the product range? - Do I have to attend regular Rah! Rah! sessions in $500 a night resorts, to network and show the pretense of wealth? All the answers (if they come) give you research options. If they're evasive or thrown off their spiel and won't answer - run for the hills. Sure, they may have a genuine business opportunity, but would you be comfortable in a business which isn't proud of its products? If you take this approach then you are one more respondent in a mounting campaign to clean out this fields' unprofessional scam artists. The genuine Network Marketers are rightfully proud of their 'product' and the downline aspect combined with the product selling, form what all serious online workers understand - you need multiple streams of income to prosper. |
